"Imaging the Black Hole in the center of our Milky Way" - kuinka Linnunradan keskustan musta aukko kuvattiin?
Kansainvälinen tutkijaryhmä on julkistanut ensimmäistä kertaa kuvan, joka on vahva todiste siitä, että galaksimme keskustassa oleva Sagittarius A* -nimellä tunnettu kohde on musta aukko. Aalto-yliopiston, Turun yliopiston sekä Suomen ESO-keskuksen tutkijat osallistuivat käänteentekevän kuvan ottamiseen. Turun yliopiston ja Åbo Akademin yhteistyöllä on ollut merkittävä rooli tiedon yhdistelyssä ja analysoinnissa supertietokoneilla. Tutkijat pitävät maanantaina 16.5. klo 14.00 luennon, jolla kerrotaan kuinka kuva otettiin.
Maanantain tilaisuus on tarkoitettu kaikille aiheesta kiinnostuneille. Tilaisuus pidetään 16.5. klo 14.00 Quantumin auditoriossa Yliopistonmäellä (Vesilinnantie 5).

Astronomers have just revealed the first image of the black hole at the heart of our galaxy!
Researchers from Aalto University, the University of Turku and the Finnish Centre for Astronomy with ESO were part of the international research group in taking a revolutionary picture.
Reasearchers Venkatessh Ramakrishnan (Aalto University Metsähovi Radio Observatory and Finnish Centre for Astronomy with ESO) will give a talk about how the image of our own black hole in the heart of the Milky Way was made. Kaj Wiik (Tuorla observatory, University of Turku) will also be available for questions.
