Most of the research in the Department of Education is conducted in the Centre for Research on Lifelong Learning and Education CELE, which was established in 2001.
The mission of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Turku University is to generate new information and understanding through research, and to provide high quality teaching. The Faculty constitutes a community of almost two thousand people, whose academic members - teachers and researchers - respond to the challenges of our time by analysing its social phenomena.
Children, young people and learning is one of the five multidisciplinary themes of the University of Turku. The INVEST and EDUCA flagships and other multidisciplinary research ecosystems produce scientific knowledge on promoting children and young people’s well-being and learning, reducing social inequality, reforming the welfare state, and ensuring expertise needed in the future.
