BioCity Turku arranges every semester Frontiers of Science seminar series where researchers are welcome to invite prominent international scientists to give a talk to local scientific community. The seminars are for all researchers and students and students can get ECTs from participation.
The InFLAMES Research Flagship (Innovation Ecosystem based on the Immune System) and its first selection process for postdoctoral researcher positions has been completed. Four postdoctoral researchers have been selected by the InFLAMES Executive Team. They will strengthen InFLAMES research groups of immunological research.
The annual BioCity Symposium is in August 19th–20th with the title Cancer – Breaking Bad. This series of meetings organized since 1991 has become the most important annual get-together in the fields of biosciences and molecular medicine in Turku. The symposium gathers together hundreds of participants each year and offers talks from cutting-edge international researchers.
The joint InFLAMES Flagship of the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University has invited four top-level visiting professors to strengthen the initiative. The position of visiting professor at the University of Turku has been granted for the period of 1 April 2021–31 December 2024 to Professors Mark Ansel, Janne Lehtiö and Lawrence Steinman as well as to Director Teng-Leong Chew.
The Cancer Biology laboratories of Klaus Elenius and Kari Kurppa are looking for a doctoral candidate to join a collaborative project.
Docent Juha Laine has been appointed as Professor of Practice in Pharmacoeconomics and Dr. Timo Veromaa Professor of Practice in Drug Development. The appointments strengthen the operations of the InFLAMES Flagship, joint effort of the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University, funded by the Academy of Finland. Both professors of practice have been offered part-time positions for the duration of the InFLAMES Flagship funding period.
Melanoma Immune Oncology Research Group (MIORG) is looking for two doctoral candidates to join the group on a fixed-term grant-based position, supervised by the group leader Dr Rogerio de Figueiredo.
