WORK2025 Conference - Work in the Era of Unruly AI
Aika
20.8.2025 klo 8.00 - 22.8.2025 klo 18.00
Multidisciplinary, international WORK2025 conference on work and working life research is organised on 20-22 August 2025 at the University of Turku and online. WORK2025 offers 18 exciting research streams, several keynote talks and nice breaks in between the sessions to share knowledge, research results and discuss new directions in research.
Theme of WORK2025, Work in the era of unruly AI, highlights some of the most significant recent changes in working life. AI is often portrayed through various optimistic and pessimistic versions and visions of techno-determinism. In these narratives, AI, in its manifold embodiments is considered as the supreme shaper of work, economy and other human realities. As social scientists we recognize these depictions often as simplified representations of the complex and hard-to-capture interactions between technological, economic, social, and cultural realities.
Undoubtedly, AI brings with it unprecedented qualitative shifts of great consequence, along with the obvious challenges of defining what AI truly is and it is headed. WORK2025 will explore the “unruliness” of AI in contemporary life. WORK2025 calls upon papers, posters and presentations to address the main theme and various issues related to work and working life.
WORK2025 welcomes papers from a wide variety of interdisciplinary, empirical and theoretical perspectives.
WORK conferences are organised every other year by Turku Centre for Labour Studies (TCLS)
