Traceability data and data ecosystems in sustainable choices are crucial as they ensure transparency, accountability, and consistency in the environmental impact. In the particular case of restaurants, by tracking and understanding the flow of people and goods, service providers can take decisions to forecast the amount of food that must be prepared and lower their environmental impact. While being more accurate in the food ordering and preparation, restaurants can reduce their carbon footprint, support more accurate planning and minimize waste. These actions do not only help in making informed decisions but also allows restaurants to communicate their sustainability efforts to customers, building trust and enhancing their reputation. Clear traceability data supports transparency and might foster industry-wide progress towards more sustainable practices. However, the effort to utilize data to achieve the after mentioned goal is not trivial.

The purpose of the event is to open the discussion about the current status on data efforts in Finland. Additionally, we want to exchange ideas on how to support the traceability of data and data ecosystems for sustainable choices, and for this the participation of front-runners in the domain is fundamental. We aim that at the end of the seminar we are able to identify needs, possibilities and connect stakeholders working on the similar topics.
