Studies in the Department of Digital Culture prepare graduates to work in, for example, organisations in the the cultural or communication sectors, in projects, research, and development, and as technology experts and trainers in governmental positions. Our teaching is strongly connected to our current ongoing research. Our students have an opportunity to focus their studies thematically based on their interests, as well as include project courses and internships in their degree.
We offer diverse skills and expertise in the subject matter, theory, and methodology, which can be applied in many different types of working environments. The three focal points – cultural change of technology, game cultures, and online communities and social media – are strongly present thematically, and as practical examples and applications. Our teaching and research are closely interconnected: the courses are tailored to interact with ongoing research projects, which means that teaching is always based on the latest research and students participate in the research activities.

Doctoral Studies
The Doctoral Candidates in Digital Culture will complete their training in The Doctoral Programme in History, Culture and Arts Studies (Juno). The doctoral dissertations in the Department of Digital Culture examine topics related to game and online cultures in particular, and the cultural changes related to these phenomena. The research topics are typically studied within their historical and cultural contexts.
