A diverse group of new Master’s degree students have started their studies in the new Public Mental Health programme, which attracted significant interest from students worldwide in its first intake. As the first programme of its kind in Finland, it aims to address mental health challenges at the population and service system level through interdisciplinary approaches and a global perspective.

In the first joint application round of 2024, the international Master’s degree programmes of the University of Turku received a total of 10 239 applications. The number of applications grew by 72 percent compared to the number of applications in 2023.

The objective of the strategic funding programme is to develop the University’s multidisciplinary approach to education and to support the objective of increasing the number of international students.

In the first joint application round of 2023, the international Master’s degree programmes of the University of Turku attracted a total of 5,958 applications. The number of applications grew by a record-breaking 76 percent compared to the number of applications in 2022. The greatest growth was seen in the Master’s degree programmes in Gender Studies and in Mechanical Engineering.

During the joint application round on 4-18 January 2023, it is possible to apply to 16 international Master’s degree programmes of the University of Turku. At the same time, there will be a separate application procedure for two European joint degree programmes.

In 2023, the University of Turku will open the international, multilingual, master's program European Languages, Cultures and Societies in Contact (120 ECTS) based on the cooperation of European universities. Application period 4-18 January 2023. An information session about the program will be organised on zoom on 14.12. at 14:00-15:00 (Finnish time, which means 13:00-14:00 CET).

The international Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes of the University of Turku attracted a record number of 3,378 applications during the joint application round on 5–19 January 2022. The number of applications grew by 73 percent when compared to 2021. The most popular programmes were Master’s degree programmes in Information and Communication Technology and Global Innovation Management. 

The University of Turku has a total of 16 international degree programmes open for applications during the joint application round on 5–19 January 2022. Three of the 14 Master’s degree programmes are available for the first time, offered by the new Faculty of Technology.

In its meeting on 11 June 2021, the University Board decided on the establishment of new degree programmes taught in English.
