In 2023, the University of Turku will open the international, multilingual, master's program European Languages, Cultures and Societies in Contact (120 ECTS) based on the cooperation of European universities. Application period 4-18 January 2023. An information session about the program will be organised on zoom on 14.12. at 14:00-15:00 (Finnish time, which means 13:00-14:00 CET).
The first students were admitted to the joint international master's program of the EC2U alliance this year. The application for those starting their studies next fall is in January 4-18. The program offers studies aimed at understanding the diversity of languages, cultures and communities. It trains language professionals for a multilingual and multicultural world.
At the University of Turku, the major study path consists mainly of studies in either French or in German. In addition to French and/or German (C1), the programme also requires excellent language skills in English (C1). To enter the programme, the applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of studies; the degree must be completed before the beginning of studies in August 2023.
The master’s programme has a very international character. It is part of the EC2U Alliance (European Campus of City-Universities) (https://ec2u.eu/) which means close cooperation between European universities: shared teaching and a tailored offer on courses to fit the objectives of the programme. University of Turku has the following partners: University of Poitiers (France), University of Jena (Germany), University of Pavia (Italy), University of Coimbra (Portugal), University of Salamanca (Spain) and University of Iasi (Roumania).
The programme requires that at least two exchange semesters will be spent at one or more of the EC2U partner universities. After completing the programme, a master’s degree will be awarded by all the universities where a minimum of 30 ECTS has been achieved.
EC2U Student fee is 1500 € / academic year. Citizens of EU/EEA countries will be reimbursed.
A presentation of the master’s degree programme will be organized via Zoom on December 14, at 14h00-15h00 (Finnish time = CET + 1). You are welcome to come to listen and to ask questions. There is no need to sign up.
