Sweeter Dreams in a Peaceful Mind

A new study by researchers from the University of Turku, Finland and the University of Skövde, Sweden shows that people with more peace of mind in the waking state have more positive dreams, whereas those with more anxiety in the waking state have more negative dreams. This means that dream experiences, as revealed in recalled and reported dreams, may reflect a person’s mental health.

Researchers Induced a Form of Synaesthesia with Hypnosis

Hypnosis can alter the way certain individuals information process information in their brain. A new phenomenon was identified by researchers from the University of Skövde in Sweden and the University of Turku in Finland, who have successfully used hypnosis to induce a functional analogue of synaesthesia. The discovery can open a window into the previously unexplored domains of cognitive neuroscience.

Prof. Louis Clerc Receives Decoration from Ordre des Palmes Académiques of France

The French government has given Louis Clerc, Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Turku, the Chevalier decoration of the Ordre des Palmes académiques, the national order of France for distinguished academics, on 13 October 2017. Professor Clerc received the recognition for his contributions to the cultural relations between Finland and France.
