The first year of the Turku Intersectoral Excellence Scheme (TIES), which started at the University of Turku on 1 September 2023, has proved to be a success. The pioneering programme has helped create new ways of working across disciplines and sectors.

The Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS) at the University of Turku launches the ground-breaking Turku Intersectoral Excellence Scheme with eight new fellowships. The fellows will be appointed for three years from 1 September 2023 and will undertake a secondment of two to six months in an organisation outside higher education. The call for applications is open 15 November 2022–9 January 2023, and TIAS organises an online launch event on 15 November where applicants can find out more about the fellowships.
The position of Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS) research collegium as an interdisciplinary centre of research excellence was further strengthened this September, when thirteen new Postdoctoral Fellows joined TIAS to undertake new research projects. The new Postdoctoral Fellows introduce their research projects in an online seminar on 14 and 21 September, 2022.
