Social Welfare and Health Care Reform Examined at Health Campus Seminars

The question was discussed in the Health Campus projects seminar and the social welfare and health care service structure reform seminar, which were organised by the Health Campus Turku and the polytechnic Master's degree students of the Turku University of Applied Sciences at ICT City on 2–3 October 2017.

Finnish Researchers Discover What Is on the Menu for Dragonflies

Researchers from the Universities of Turku and Helsinki, Finland, are the first in the world to discover which species adult dragonflies and damselflies prey upon, as modern laboratory techniques enabled the study of the insects’ diet. In the study, prey DNA was extracted from the tiny dragonfly droppings and the researchers managed to identify dozens of prey species from the samples. The results shed light on dragonflies’ position in natural food webs with an unprecedented specificity.

Digitalisation of Dentistry Education Has Great Potential

Nordic Institute of Dental Education (NIDE) organised two advanced level CAD/CAM continuing education courses in Helsinki on 4–8 September with the help of American lecturers. The lecturers also visited the Institute of Dentistry at the University of Turku.

Minister of Water Resources of China Chen Lei Visited Marine Research at University of Turku

Minister of Water Resources Chen Lei from China and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Jari Leppä from Finland visited the Seili Island with their delegations on 20 September 2017 in order to learn more about the marine research conducted at the Archipelago Research Institute of the University of Turku. The visit was also about exploring other Finnish research in the water sector, and Finnish water technology companies' expertise.

Ghadah Ibrahim is clearly inspired by phenomenon-based teaching. That is a teaching method where teachers of different subjects can collaborate and study the same phenomenon from the perspective of many different subjects. It is a novel teaching method for the Saudi teacher, one of the gems she has discovered while improving her teaching skills at the Department of Teacher Education of the University of Turku.
