Researchers Develop a New Method for Studying Functionality of Microbiota

A research group from Turku Bioscience Centre, Finland, has developed a new method for studying the functionality of microbiota through metaproteomics. The new method poses broad potential for the study of microbiota on a new, functional level.  The characterisation of the functionality of gut microbiota is central in the study of human health and disease as well as disease prediction, prevention, and treatment. Previous studies have mainly focused on cataloguing the composition of microbiota, but little is known about the functionality of the human gut microbiota.

Futures Consciousness highlights how our expectations, assumptions, biases, and attitudes influence the way we see the future and how we respond to it. In her dissertation, Sanna Ahvenharju and colleagues developed a definition of futures consciousness that can be applied to individuals as well as organisations. In addition, they developed a way to measure its manifestation among individuals.

University of Turku Received ACEEU Accreditation in Florence on 28 June

The Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU) has granted the University of Turku accreditation for promoting entrepreneurship and supporting the University community’s entrepreneurial activities as the first Finnish university. The University’s delegation received the acknowledgement that was granted earlier in the spring in Florence, Italy on 28 June 2022.

The Development of Virtual Reality Mathematics Learning Environment discussed at MATHESIS Project Partner Meeting

On the 16th and 17th of June 2022, the third transnational project meeting of the Erasmus+ Project MATHESIS (Attracting Students’ Interest in Mathematics and Improving Their Skills, Comprehension and Performance with The Use of a Virtual Reality Educational Platform) took place. Representatives of partner organisations from Greece, Romania, Italy, Finland and Czech Republic, participated in the meeting.
