Minor subject of Cultural and Experience Tourism
Cultural and Experience Tourism is a study module offered by the Degree Programme of Cultural Production and Landscape Studies as a minor subject. It enables the student to examine tourism related phenomena from a multidisciplinary perspective involving diverse methods and overarching faculty boundaries.
The study block contains modules from the Degree Programme, from other subjects at the Faculty of Humanities, as well as from the Pori and Turku campuses of the Turku School of Economics (TSE). Some of the courses are produced in co-operation with the Finnish University Network for Tourism Studies (FUNTS).
The student will approach tourism from the point of view of marketing, business activity and experience, and analyse tourism as a medium for cultural adaptation, focusing on topics such as changing community structures, patterns of leisure, the mainstreaming of web media, the relation of globalization to local heritage, as well as sustainability.
