Department of Cultural Heritage Studies
The research topics of the Department of Cultural Heritage Studies are cultural memory, history management and the use of history. Cultural heritage is more than a museum or a cultural environmental topic, it is also information, skills, stories and objects transferred from generation to generation.
A researcher of cultural heritage is interested in the historical consciousness of various communities, enterprises and individuals. We are concerned with the future reservoir of the tangible and intangible cultural memory and the sustainable use of cultural heritages. We explore historical identities, encountering cultures, the flexible cultural memory, cultural heritage conflicts, and the productisation of history. We are interested in the preservation, conservation and explanation of the traces of the past.
Our research material ranges from digital texts to stone carvings, from archival records to oral histories, from material artefacts to popular culture, and from interviews and questionnaires to the obseraving of the cultural environment and cultural activity.
