The University of Turku offers exchange study positions and grants for 25 students who have fled Ukraine due to the invasion. The positions are open for applications for students and doctoral researchers from the EC2U’s new partner, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (IFNUL).
The University of Turku is offering two new international Master’s degree programmes as a part of the European EC2U Alliance. The students selected for the programmes have a freedom to customise a personalised study path for themselves which is focused on either language, culture, and society, or sustainable cities and communities. The students also have a chance to obtain a degree from several Alliance universities at once.
A mobile application helping students in adjusting to their new educational institutions will be introduced in all of the member universities of the European Campus of City-Universities, or EC2U Alliance. The My Mobile Tutor application was first created to facilitate the adjustment process of new students at the University of Turku in 2018. The mobile application was launched at the EC2U Forum in Pavia, Italy on 6 April.
The international and multilingual master’s degree programme European Languages, Cultures and Societies in Contact trains language professionals for a multilingual and multicultural world of work. At the University of Turku, the major is either French or German. The applying period is April 1st–May 31st.
The virtual institutes that will be built in the EC2U Alliance of the University of Turku and six other European universities will be introducing themselves in the EC2U Forum organised on 27—28 October. The research and innovation collaboration will also be highlighted through the Research & Innovation for Cities & Citizens collaboration project. The Forum will be organised in Salamanca, but it can also be participated remotely.
The University of Pavia won the first ever EC2U Science Battle, thanks to their audience votes in particular. The other participants of the battle, Universities of Turku and Poitiers received points almost at the same pace in the tight competition. The winner, the University of Pavia, will challenge the winner of next year’s battle in the final competition in 2023.
How do scientists tackle a surprising problem they face? You can witness this in the Science Battle competition, where researchers from the Universities of Pavia, Poitiers and Turku compete against each other. Three teams try to solve questions submitted by the public. The competition can be followed online or on site on university campuses.
Entrepreneurship for research professionals is the first joint course of the EC2U Alliance. Organised by Turku School of Economics, the course can be applied to with a motivation letter by all doctoral candidates of the EC2U universities. Completing the course also gives the students an opportunity to participate in the activities of EC2U Entrepreneurship Academy in spring 2022.
