The University of Turku will host doctoral candidates as part of a new pan-European training network that will advance understanding of how microorganism and host genetics interact.

Between 28 August and 13 September 2024, the doctoral programmes of the University of Turku are inviting applications for approximately fifty fixed-term doctoral researcher positions with employment contracts. In addition, more than 60 doctoral researchers positions in pilot projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture will be open for applications this autumn.

Doctoral Researcher Saara Koskela from the Institute of Biomedicine, InFLAMES Research Flagship and Turku Doctoral Programme of Molecular Medicine won the Three Minute Thesis competition of the University of Turku. Koskela will represent the University of Turku in the international 3MT competition organised by the Coimbra Group for European universities. 

The University of Turku is involved in developing a new type of doctoral training through a doctoral education pilot funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture for the period of 2024–2027. The pilot will create a number of new three-year doctoral researcher positions at the University.

Doctoral Researcher Arno Ylitalo from the Institute of Biomedicine won the Three Minute Thesis competition of the University of Turku. Ylitalo will represent the University of Turku in the international 3MT competition organised by the Coimbra Group for European universities.

There are nearly fifty open vacancies for fixed-term doctoral researcher positions at the University of Turku from 1 January 2023 onwards. The call for applications is open 29 August – 16 September 2022. All current doctoral researchers as well as those who are also applying for the study right for doctoral training can apply for the funded positions.

Doctoral Candidate in Materials Engineering Mahdi Moghaddam won the Three Minute Thesis competition of the University of Turku. Moghaddam will represent the University of Turku in the Coimbra Group’s international 3MT competition of European universities and the international 3MT competition of the SANORD network.

Seven doctoral candidates will be competing for the chance to represent the University of Turku in the Coimbra network’s joint 3MT competition.

Doctoral Candidate in Internal Medicine Felix Vaura won the Three Minute Thesis competition organised by the University of Turku. The judges praised this year's competition to be of exceptionally high quality. - The judges always say this but this time it is completely true, said the chair of the judges, Director of the Centre for Language and Communication Studies Mike Nelson.
