Supporting University-Business Collaboration in Vietnam

The Development Services at Brahea Centre of the University of Turku develops higher education in Vietnam in collaboration with two Vietnamese partner universities within the ICTEDU project, one of the higher education development cooperation projects funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

Brown Fat a Possible Aid in Weight Control

The activation or increasing the amount of brown adipose tissue, i.e. brown fat, could be a new way to control weight. The new findings that were presented in the Turku PET Symposium give indications that help is at hand. For example, being exposed to cold can activate the brown fat.

​According to Docent Kirsi Virtanen, what the researchers are studying at the moment is whether we can improve the function of brown fat to advance weight loss and decrease obesity.

University Strengthens Cooperation with India

The University of Turku looks towards India. In spring, the University made a cooperation agreement with the Indian Sardar Patel University.

Narendra Modi, who was chosen as the Prime Minister of India in May, and Rector Kalervo Väänänen met in Gandhinagar, India, at the beginning of the year.

Apply for Falling Walls Lab Turku Competition ‒ Three Winners Get to Go to Berlin

The application for Falling Walls Lab Turku, a new scientific format for young talents to present their breakthrough ideas, is open until the 15th of July. In the Lab, young researchers and experts get the opportunity to present their work in just three minutes onstage. The Lab in Turku is one of the many Falling Walls Labs taking place globally this year. Three winners from the Lab in Turku qualify for the finale in Berlin in November.
