Education in European and World History produces experts in international history. The studies provide skills for fields that require knowledge of different societies and cultures. The Faculty of Humanities contains two schools: the School of History, Culture and Arts Studies and the School of Languages and Translation Studies. The Faculty is host to several Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes as well as multidisciplinary research units, centres and groups that cross the boundaries between different subjects and faculties.
Mikrocosmos, a work of art donated to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Turku in 1986, has found a new home in Agora. Mikrocosmos is part of the University's valuable art collection of hundreds of works which is presented in the online gallery of the University of Turku art collection published in spring 2024.
What makes us appreciate art or an object? How can museums benefit the society? Why and how are museum collections preserved and managed? Minoring in Museology gives you a theoretical background as well as the practical skills required to work in the museum field. These studies concentrate on how the material culture affects people, what makes us value our cultural heritage, and on other important questions in the field of cultural heritage studies.
TUCEMEMS provides a study programme entitled ‘Prehistorical, Ancient, Medieval and Early Modern Studies’. It is worth between 25 to 60 ECTS, based on the student’s level of interest in its curricular offerings.
