Biography

Before joining the Department of English, I was postdoctoral researcher in the project “Traces of translation in the archives” at the Finnish Literature Society (SKS). You can read more about the project here.

Previously, I wrote my PhD dissertation on a mixed-methods approach to indirect translation, using the Finnish translations of Modern Greek prose (1952–2004) as my case study. Read more about the PhD project here.

I also hold master’s degrees in Italian (University of Turku) and International Studies (University of Washington).

I am a co-coordinator of the international IndirecTrans network.

I am an editor of MikaEL, the Electronic Journal of the KäTu Symposium on Translation and Interpreting Studies.

In 2022, I was invited to become a member of the Young Academy Finland.

I have also published literature in translation and worked as a translator.

Teaching

I teach English into Finnish translation and Translation Studies courses.

I am open to supervise theses relating especially to indirect translation, literary translation, genetic translation criticism and translation history.
