The University of Turku Graduate School has opened funded positions for application each autumn since 2013.

At the University of Turku, doctoral training is coordinated by the University of Turku Graduate School (UTUGS). It consists of 17 doctoral programmes that cover all the disciplines represented at the University of Turku. All the doctoral candidates pursuing their degree in the University belong to one of the doctoral programmes.

You can apply for the doctoral candidate positions through the doctoral programmes. All current doctoral candidates as well as those who are also applying for the study right for doctoral training can apply for the funded positions. The doctoral candidates are employed for conducting full-time dissertation research. The aim is to finish the doctoral degree in four years’ time.

Annually, the University of Turku Graduate School funds nearly 200 doctoral candidates in total. The selected doctoral candidates will work as part of a multidisciplinary and international research university that offers high-quality education and guidance. In addition to researcher career, doctoral training gives excellent skills for different kinds of demanding expert positions.

The engineering education is currently being expanded at the University of Turku. In the autumn application round, you can apply for doctoral training in engineering in several doctoral programmes. Also the Doctoral programme on Inequalities, Interventions and New Welfare State (DPInvest) that was initiated last year is hiring new doctoral candidates.

- Beginning the doctoral studies at the right time and the progress of studies despite the challenging coronavirus situation is extremely important to us, says Director of the Graduate School Pirjo Nuutila and continues: - Welcome to our expert community to conduct effective research!
