Maritime@TSE research platform at Turku School of Economics hosted another industry-academia event on 28th Feb 2024. The theme for the event was maritime green growth and how to evaluate related opportunities and bottlenecks by combining perspectives, for example, from economics discipline with industry insights on decarbonization
Background
Decarbonization is bringing vast transformations to the global maritime sector. Finnish technology providers, with their global reach, are uniquely positioned to lead the way in offering innovative solutions Similarly, domestic shipping companies and ports are set to become pioneers as well.
A critical question arises: how will maritime decarbonization influence various economies? Could embracing green shipping technologies and practices spur economic growth? Are our current methods for assessing these investments and their impacts still relevant? In TSE, we're delving into these issues with a keen focus on the economic aspects of maritime green growth including industry insights.
