Collaboration with the Committee for the Future

Based on a cooperation agreement between the Committee for the Future, Parliament of Finland and the FFRC, the Centre provides the Committee with foresight information, participates in the Committee's futures projects, assists the Committee on methodological issues and in its futures work.

The Committee for the Future's permanent expert is the appointed representative of the FFRC, whose core task is to ensure that the Committee has the best possible expertise on the subject at hand. This is done, for example, by identifying the experts most relevant to the foresight of the themes, from different research institutes and communities, to the Committee for consultation.

In addition to changing themes, the Committee for the Future's main tasks are to produce reports in response to the Government's Forward-Looking Report and the Agenda 2030 Report. A permanent expert is closely involved in this work. She also provides scientific guidance for the foresight projects commissioned by the Committee and forwards knowledge and expertise on foresight techniques between the Centre and the Committee. The Permanent Expert will also act as secretary to the Committee for the Future, where appropriate. As of September 2017, the position has been handled by Senior Research Fellow Maria Höyssä.
