The Faculty has experts in various fields: Philosophy, Speech-Language Pathology, Contemporary History, Psychology, Social Policy, Social Work, Sociology, Economic Sociology and Political Science.
We have also several research centres: Centre for East Asian Studies, Finnish Centre for Democracy Studies, Centre for Parliamentary Studies, John Morton Center for North American Studies and Urban Studies. We are also partner in Turku Center for Welfare Research.
We have two clinics Multiprofessional teaching clinic and a clinic in Centre for Learning Research.
Join KiVa School antibullying program created by psychologists from our Faculty
KiVa is a research-based antibullying program that has been developed in the University of Turku, Finland, with funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The effectiveness of KiVa has been shown in a large randomized controlled trial. In Finland, KiVa is a sought-after program: most of all comprehensive schools in the country are registered KiVa schools implementing the program.
KiVa was developed at the University of Turku in Finland, with funding from the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. Its developers are experts who have been studying the phenomenon of bullying and its mechanisms for decades. The team is led by PhD, Professor Christina Salmivalli and PhD, Special Researcher Elisa Poskiparta.
