Student feedback
The MediOpe unit maintains and develops the faculty feedback system. The feedback system is used to monitor whether the right things are being taught in the right way. The aim is to make the feedback process as transparent and practical as possible.
Providing student feedback promotes collegiality and solidarity in developing faculty teaching together, also with a view to future courses. Student feedback helps to bring out students' views on teaching. This helps to build a valuable dialogue between students and teachers, which is something the faculty has emphasised: feedback is sought and received on a daily basis. It is also recommended that an anonymous open feedback channel ("feedback horn") be added to Moodle, and that feedback on teaching be included in development discussions.
Course feedback
The Faculty of Medicine collects electronic feedback on the faculty's courses and modules. Feedback is systematically collected and compiled every two years. The cycle is based on two-year curricula: the first year, systematic feedback is collected, and the second year focuses on developing the curricula based on the feedback.
To facilitate comparison, the survey will be conducted using a standardised feedback form across all faculty curricula. The questionnaire consists of seven feedback questions commonly used at the University of Turku and three open-ended questions where students can leave their thanks and ideas for improvement.
FEEDBACK SYSTEM IN BRIEF:
- Student involvement: A course critic is selected from each year group to compile a summary of the course feedback, which is forwarded to the course or subject.
- Responding to feedback: Feedback is provided by the teaching staff, including possible development measures. This also allows students to receive feedback on their feedback, and teachers to express their own views on the delivery of teaching.
- Transparency: The course critic forwards the summary and the teachers' feedback to the MediOpe unit. The feedback summaries and counter-feedbacks are available to all faculty and students in Moodle.
