Minor subject of Finnish Language and Culture (for non-native speakers)
The Finnish Language and Culture (for non-native speakers) programme includes a basic study module (25 ECTS) and an intermediate study module (35 ECTS). We arrange courses on Finnish grammar and language structure, linguistic history and variation, the practical use of Finnish, and academic writing. Our courses also provide insight into Finnish culture and society.
The studies included in the Finnish Language and Culture (for non-native speakers) programme are intended for students who are not native speakers of Finnish but who already possess previous knowledge of the Finnish language (levels B1–B2). Prospective students should be able to understand lectures arranged in Finnish, read Finnish texts, and be able to communicate in Finnish. All courses are taught in Finnish.
The Finnish Language and Culture programme can be studied as a minor subject, and students are also free to participate in any individual courses. The programme and its courses are available to students of the University of Turku, international exchange students, and academic non-degree students.
