Degree Programme in Language Learning and Teaching
The Degree Programme in Language Learning and Teaching is one of the three MA programmes in the School of Languages and Translation Studies. We train experts in language learning and teaching and conduct a range of multilingual and multidisciplinary research on language learning.
In the Degree Programme in Language Learning and Teaching, students can specialise in either one or several languages. They can study the following languages: English, Spanish, Italian, Latin, French, Swedish (Nordic languages), German, Finno-Ugric languages, Finnish, and Russian. In addition, students can choose study modules in classical Greek, Romanian, Hungarian, and Estonian.
The Degree Programme focuses on research and practical issues related to language learning and teaching. Students will deepen the knowledge they received during their BA programme and conduct independent research work. They can also become subject teachers in a specific language or specific languages if, in addition to study modules in the language in question, they choose to take the subject teacher’s pedagogical studies as a minor subject. In addition to specific language studies, the Degree Programme contains co-operation courses carried out by the Degree Programme together with either the subject teacher’s pedagogical studies or studies in another language, or even with other studies.
