The scientific fields represented by our faculty are very visible social actors. Collaborating with parties from different societal sectors forms a core part of our activities. Our experts arrange for example various regional, national and international happenings and events in collaboration with different actors, and not just for the scientific community, but also for the wider public.

The strengths of the Faculty of Humanities include not only its expertise in research matters related to history, culture and the arts, but also languages and linguistic research. Our expertise is based on our top-quality research and the new knowledge that is generated through it. The experts from our Faculty are happy to participate in public discussion and debate and provide their expert opinions on current events.
The Faculty collaborates with schools by arranging visits to both schools and the Faculty of Humanities and its different subjects for pupil groups and study guidance counsellors.

The University of Turku has nine student ambassadors who share their stories about student life and the educational opportunities at the University in social media, upper secondary schools and events. Our ambassadors post photos and stories on the University of Turku’s Instagram account every other week using the hashtag #utulähettiläs and also make group YouTube videos.

The Archives of History, Culture and Arts Studies contain the collections of the research and teaching activities of the Faculty’s subjects.
The Department of Finnish and Finno-Ugric Languages conducts extensive collaboration by providing its expert services for both the scientific community as well as society at large. The Department also houses the Syntax Archive.

Collaboration between the Faculty of Humanities and the Turku Museum Centre
The Faculty of Humanities and the Turku Museum Centre have signed a six-year partnership agreement in March 2018 to strengthen their already extensive collaboration and increase their mutual networking opportunities. The Faculty and Museum will also use this partnership agreement to deepen their project-related collaboration.

Hiiskuttua online magazine
The Faculty of Humanities’ online magazine Hiiskuttua (only available in Finnish) provides more insight into the Faculty’s research, events, theses and actors. The magazine’s themed editions have focused on the topics related to human existence from the perspective of humanities-oriented research, such as love, fear, time and money.
