Applying for the Title of Docent at the Faculty of Humanities
The University may award the title of docent (dosentti) to a person who has comprehensive knowledge of their own discipline, capacity for independent research or artistic work demonstrated through publication or some other manner, and good teaching skills.
There are general guidelines for applying for the title of docent. According to the guidelines, the applicant should consult with the professor at the department / discipline in question before submitting the application. After consulting the professor, the applicant emails the application and its appendices to hum-hr@utu.fi.
The application periods of the Faculty of Humanities are 15 January – 15 February and 1–30 September.
The application is made using the application form "Application for the Title of Docent at the Faculty of Humanities." Before filling out the application form, please familiarise yourself with the guidelines provided by the Faculty of Humanities for those applying for the title of docent.
The completed application form, along with the required attachments as pdf-files, should be sent via email to hum-hr@utu.fi.
