With the help of mentoring, you have the opportunity to learn about yourself and working life
I am studying psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences for the fifth year. At the moment, I am interested in clinical psychology and work in, for example, family counseling or occupational health.
I applied to the mentoring program because mentoring sounded like a good opportunity to learn more about myself and working life. I can structure my own thoughts better when I can process them together with another person.
My goal was to clarify my own career plans and strengths, to network and to orientate myself in working life in general. My mentor and I have discussed a wide range of different themes. I have gotten to know his work. We have thought about my strengths and the future job search, discussed coping and developing at work, and discussed potential future jobs and further training.
The best thing about mentoring so far has been that I have been able to think about myself and my working life in peace with a motivated and knowledgeable professional. In addition, mentoring offers a great opportunity to get to know working life, even though you are still a student.
