APC Discount for Royal Society Journals
The independent scientific academy of the UK, the Royal Society, was founded in the 1660s. Royal Society publishes journals across the entire range of science. From April 1, 2023, the library has made one-year agreement with the publisher for University of Turku allowing the corresponding authors affiliated to University of Turku to publish their articles Open Access with 25 % discount of the APCs.
Open Access Publishing Popular as Ever in Wiley’s and Taylor & Francis’s Journals – Funds Reserved for OA Publishing Nearly Spent
The Library keenly follows how the funds reserved for open access publishing in its license agreements are used. At the moment, the funds in two such agreements is running out. Those of the library’s license agreements that include open access publishing have mainly been negotiated by FinELib, a consortium of Finnish higher education institutions, research institutes and public libraries. However the library has also entered into some such agreements directly with the publishers.
Discounts in Publication Charges - Oxford University Press
As part of the FinElib consortium the University of Turku researchers are entitled to open access benefits which the consortium has negotiated. These benefits include discounts on the article processing charges.

Open access publishing benefits researchers in many ways: the visibility and accessibility of research are improved, search engines find open access articles better and they get more citations.
You Still Have Some Time to Publish Openly in Wiley and Taylor& Francis Journals
FinElib has earmarked money for open access publishing this year and it is running out by the autumn. FinELib is a consortium of Finnish universities, research institutions and public libraries and it promotes availability of e-resources and open publishing.
