The Centre for Language and Communication Studies (CeLCS) is an independent unit of the University of Turku responsible for the language, communication and intercultural skills teaching of most faculties.
The Centre for Language and Communication Studies offers teaching in 11 languages. Language courses organised by the CeLCS are open to international (degree and exchange) students of the University of Turku.
The beginner’s course in Korean is a new initiative, and it is organised in co-operation between the Centre for Language and Communication Studies of the University of Turku and King Sejong Institute established by the South Korean government, and specialising in the teaching of the Korean language as well as cultural export.
Suomipassi - The Finnish passport - is a mobile application that can be used in everyday life situations. The language application was developed at the University of Turku and it is also used in the Finnish language courses of the exchange students and international degree students.
Researchers from the Faculty of Humanities are developing methods for facilitating language learning and cultural education through art. In addition, the Centre for Language and Communication Studies is developing a mobile app for supporting international students in Finnish language learning.
