Meet Zejia Song, a current Master's degree student at the University of Turku and an UTUambassador 2020-2022!
"After my research internship in Shanghai, I searched for Master’s programme to have a broader view in drug development and international cooperation in drug research. University of Turku offers multiple career options from academic research to industrial internship with NordBioMedNet network. Here, your idea and career plan are really supported and encouraged. Two years before my Master’s study, I was an exchange student in Kuopio. Living in a student-friendly country with unique Finnish culture and lifestyle, I enjoyed my study in Finland and decided for another two years here! Currently, I’m in the second-year study in Turku, and I’m looking forward to exploring more possibilities in the field of biomedical sciences!"

Zejia's study experience
I study Drug Discovery and Development (DDD), focusing on cancer research. Why I choose this field of study? Because it’s useful for the growing population of cancer patients and it’s super fun to witness the cancer cell behaviour under treatments!
In DDD MSc program, a variety of courses and projects are provided. Among all, I personally like the Drug Development Learning Project, which is a practical summarized package involving all aspects from drug molecule design, pre-clinical research to clinical trials.
I’m aiming for PhD and probably staying in academic research for a while. It has been my plan since I applied for this program. It might be challenging but a lot more fun process and hopefully fruitful in the end.
