Providing Original Upper Secondary Documents
Have you been admitted to a Bachelor's programme at the University of Turku? Congratulations! Here you find instructions on how to submit your previous educational credentials for verification.
Please note that these instructions are only for students starting their studies in a Bachelor's Degree Programme and who have applied with upper secondary credentials.
If you have already finished a Bachelor level degree and you are using that to prove your eligibility to university studies, please follow the country specific requirements for Master’s level programmes.
All documents, including ones sent directly to the university by your previous institution must reach the University of Turku by the deadline. Giving incorrect/false information or failing to provide the university with the required documentation will directly lead to the cancellation of the admission.

You do not have to submit the documents for verification as they have been verified electronically during the application process. We will contact you in case we need further information of your degree.
If your educational document is an International Baccalaureate diploma, you must order a Transcript of Grades from IBO and ask them to send it to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku. University of Turku will get the final grades electronically from IBO.
If your educational document is a Reifeprüfung Diploma or a European Baccalaureate Diploma we will require you to provide the University with the original document for verification.
If your educational document is an AICE diploma or A Levels offered by Cambridge Assessment International Education or Edexcel, an official statement of examination results must be sent directly to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku the appropriate examination board (Cambridge Assessment International Education or Edexcel).
a) Check the country specific requirements (see below) and provide the documents accordingly. Electronic transcripts submitted through a few recognized sources are considered originals.
b) If none of the country specific requirements applies to you, you need to submit the upper secondary certificate(s) according to the general requirements:
- The original certificate (in the original language) AND an English, Finnish or Swedish translation of the certificate.
- Also certified copies of the originals, given by the awarding institution or Finnish Digital and Population Data Services Agency are accepted.
- All translations must be made either by an authorized translator or by the awarding institution. Each page of an official translation must bear the translator’s stamp and/or signature. Official translations must be exact translations of the original documents. Translations done by the applicant him- or herself are not accepted.

Country specific requirements
Applicants whose upper secondary credentials have been awarded in certain countries need to pay special attention to the following requirements.
In some cases the requirements only give instructions on the providing of the diploma or other credential. Please note that we require all admitted applicants to provide us both the original certificate AND an English, Finnish or Swedish translation of the documents unless stated otherwise in the following requirements.
The University of Turku also accepts electronic credentials submitted through a few recognized sources, such as Truecopy and Digitary. For information on which electronic credential sending services are accepted by the university, please see the page Electronic Transcripts. If your institution uses one of the services, you can request for your official credentials to be electronically sent to the University of Turku.
Please check if your credential awarding country is listed below and then follow the given instructions. The University of Turku makes no exceptions to these requirements.
The educational documents must be certified by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.
Submit a copy of the official government-granted upper secondary degree certificate. The original educational documents must be verified with an apostille by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The upper secondary educational documents must be officially certified (attested) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, specifically the Consular and Welfare Wing. Each page of the educational documents must carry the original seal and signature of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
Submit a copy of the official government-granted upper secondary degree certificate. The original educational documents must be verified with an apostille by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
The upper secondary educational documents must be submitted to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku by the examining body (Cameroon GCE Board).
You must submit your upper secondary educational documents to CHESICC (China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center) for verification. Request CHESICC to submit the verification report in English or send the report from the CHESICC online verification service to the following email address: admissions@utu.fi
You must submit the West African Senior Secondary Certificate (WASSC) granted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) together with an unscratched Access Card. The Access Card is used to verify the degree using an online service.

The upper secondary educational documents must be submitted to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku in a sealed envelope by the awarding institution. The envelope must be sealed with the awarding institution’s official stamp or seal across the back flap, indicating that the envelope has not been opened. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp, such as one stating “sealed”, are not accepted.
Copies of your upper secondary educational documents must be legalised by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Embassy in Tehran. Official translations of the educational documents must be certified by the Ministry of Justice. Regular photocopies of certified copies will not be accepted. All the copies must have the original stamp given by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Embassy in Tehran.
You must submit the Leaving Certificate to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku in a sealed envelope by the awarding institution. The envelope must be sealed with the awarding institution’s official stamp or seal across the back flap, indicating that the envelope has not been opened. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp, such as one stating “sealed”, are not accepted.
Submit the official government-granted upper secondary degree certificate. The original educational documents must be verified with an apostille by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
You must submit the statement of examination results for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku in a sealed envelope by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). The envelope must be sealed with the KNEC’s official stamp or seal across the back flap, indicating that the envelope has not been opened. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp, such as one stating “sealed”, are not accepted.
You must submit the West African Senior Secondary Certificate (WASSC) granted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) together with an unscratched Access Card. The Access Card is used to verify the degree using an online service.

The upper secondary educational documents must be certified (attested) by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC). Each page of the transcript of records and the degree certificate must be stamped and signed by the IBCC. The documents must be verifiable via their online service. If this is not possible, the educational documents must be submitted directly to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku by the IBCC.
Submit the official government-granted upper secondary degree certificate. The original educational documents must be verified with an apostille by the authorised body of education of the Russian Federation in your region (Федеральная служба по надзору в сфере образования и науки (Рособрнадзор)).
You must submit the West African Senior Secondary Certificate (WASSC) granted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) together with an unscratched Access Card. The Access Card is used to verify the degree using an online service.
You must submit the Letter of Education to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku in a sealed envelope by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB). The envelope must be sealed with the UNEB’s official stamp or seal across the back flap, indicating that the envelope has not been opened. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp, such as one stating “sealed”, are not accepted.
The original upper secondary educational documents must be verified with an apostille by the Information and Image Centre (Інформаційно-іміджевий центр) of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (Міністерство освіти і науки України).
The Statement of Results must be submitted to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku in a sealed envelope by the examining body. The envelope must be sealed with the examining body’s official stamp or seal across the back flap, indicating that the envelope has not been opened. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp, such as one stating “sealed”, are not accepted.
The upper secondary educational documents must be submitted to the Admissions Services of the University of Turku by the National Student Clearinghouse.
