Have you been admitted to the University of Turku? Congratulations! On this page, you find instructions on how to submit your previous educational documents for verification.
Please note that these instructions are for students beginning their studies in a Master's Degree Programme, and for doctoral researchers. If you have applied with an upper secondary degree, please follow the country specific requirements for Bachelor’s level programmes.
All documents, including ones sent directly to the university by your previous institution must reach University of Turku by the deadline. Giving incorrect/false information or failing to provide the university with the required documentation will lead to direct cancellation of the admission.

What documents to provide?
Check the country specific requirements below and provide the documents accordingly. If you can’t find your country on the list follow the instructions given in the last section “Other countries”.
Please check if your degree awarding country is listed below and then follow the given instructions. The University of Turku makes no exceptions to these requirements.
In some cases the requirements only give instructions on the providing of a transcript. Please note that we require all admitted applicants to provide us both the original degree certificate and the transcript of records AND an English, Finnish or Swedish translation of both documents unless stated otherwise in the following requirements.
Offshore Campuses
If your academic qualification was completed at an offshore campus, please follow the country-specific instructions for the country where the main university is located or accredited.

If you have completed your degree in an African country, an official transcript of records must be submitted by post to the University of Turku directly by the awarding institution. The transcript of records must be certified with an original stamp of the institution and an original signature of the certifying officer. The envelope must be sealed by the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap indicating that the envelope has not been opened. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp, such as one stating “sealed”, are not accepted.

If you have completed your degree in one of the countries mentioned above, you must submit the official government-granted degree certificate and transcript. The original documents must be verified with an apostille by the appropriate ministry/authorised body of the country in question, please see list below.

If you have completed your degree in Bangladesh, you must submit copies of the education documentation awarded by your university attested as stated below. Degree certificates and transcripts must always be awarded by the main university or a college that has a degree awarding status. Educational documents granted by affiliated colleges will not be accepted.
The copies of the degree certificate and transcript of records must be officially certified (attested) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, more specifically by the Consular and Welfare Wing. Each page of the transcript of records and the degree certificate must carry the original stamp and signature of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. The attestation should be done onto a copy of the degree certificate and transcript, you do not need to submit the originals as the copies are attested by the Ministry.
If the documents are verified through E-attestation, send the required PIN number via email to admissions@utu.fi .
Physical documents are required - they can't be sent by email.

Degree certificate
Apply to CSSD https://www.chsi.com.cn/en/service/ (previously CDGDC or CHESICC) for a verification report of your degree certificate (NB! not of graduation certificate) in English. Send the verification report in English to the email address admissions@utu.fi or use the Digitary service.
Transcript of records:
Apply to CSSD https://www.chsi.com.cn/en/service/ (previously CHESICC) for a verification report of your transcript of records in English. Send the verification report in English to the email address admissions@utu.fi or use the Digitary service.
In addition, send a copy or scan of your degree certificate and transcript of records in the original language to the Admission Services of the University of Turku. This copy does not need to be officially certified.
If you have applied with a degree from a Finnish university or Finnish university of applied sciences, you do not have to submit the documents for verification as they have been verified electronically during the application process. We will contact you in case we need further information of your degree.

If you have completed your degree in India, an official transcript of records (consolidated) must be submitted to the University of Turku by the awarding institution. The envelope must be sealed by the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap. The document must come to the University of Turku directly from the awarding institution. Please note that regular photocopies are not sufficient, even if they are sent by the awarding institution.
If your university or college in India is unable to send the transcript, mark sheet or result card to the University of Turku, please request that the attested documents be placed in an officially sealed envelope with the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap. Have the envelope returned to you to forward to the University of Turku. The official transcript, mark sheet or result card must in this case be attested by the Controller of Examinations or the Registrar’s Office, and the envelope must be sealed with the attesting office’s stamp across the back flap.
Transcript of records must be awarded either by the main university or a college (autonomous or affiliated). It is acceptable if the envelope contains other official documents awarded by the institution (e.g. degree certificate and diploma supplement).
Degree certificates must always be awarded by the main university. Degree certificates granted by affiliated colleges will not be accepted.

If you have completed your degree in Indonesia, an official transcript of records must be submitted to the University of Turku by the awarding institution. The envelope must be sealed by the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp, such as one stating “sealed”, are not accepted.

If you have completed your degree in Iran, you must submit the educational documents and their official translations. Official translations of educational documents must be certified by the Ministry of Justice. The documents submitted must have the original stamp given by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Embassy in Tehran. If your translations include official copies of your degree documents (degree certificate + transcript) in the original language, and they have been stamped as specified before, you do not need to provide the original degree certificate and transcript.

If you have completed your degree in Ireland, an official transcript of records must be submitted to the University of Turku in an envelope that must be sealed by the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap. If you have completed your degree in Italy but have not yet received your final degree certificate, a Certificato di Laurea is sufficient to prove your educational background. Please note that the document must contain all the same information as a degree certificate and a transcript of records.

If you have completed your degree in Japan, an official transcript of records must be submitted to the University of Turku in an envelope that has been sealed by the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap. If your university in Nepal is unable to send the transcript to the University of Turku, please request that the attested documents be placed in an officially sealed envelope with the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap. The official transcript must in this case be attested by the Controller of Examinations or the Registrar’s Office, and the envelope must be sealed with the attesting office’s stamp across the back flap. If you have completed your degree in Pakistan, you must submit the education documentation awarded by your university. Degree certificates and transcript of records must always be awarded by the main university or a college with degree-awarding status. Educational documents granted by affiliated colleges will not be accepted.
You can submit either the original documents or copies of the originals: The original degree certificate and transcript of records must be certified (attested) by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Each page of the transcript of records and the degree certificate must be stamped and signed by the HEC. All copies submitted to University of Turku must carry an original stamp by the HEC.
Physical documents are required - they can't be sent by email.
Documents certified before September 20, 2009 are not accepted, as the HEC stamps must be verifiable from HEC’s online service.

If none of the country specific requirements applies to you, you must provide the following:
- The original degree certificate (in the original language)
- The original transcript of study records (in the original language)
- If your documents are not English, Finnish or Swedish, also translations (in one of those languages) of the degree certificate and the transcript of records are required. English-language Diploma Supplement concerning graduates from European universities is also accepted as a translation.
All translations must be made either by an authorized translator or by the degree awarding institution. Each page of an official translation must bear the translator’s stamp and/or signature. Official translations must be exact translations of the original documents. Translations done by the applicants themselves are not accepted.

Providing documents electronically
Does your home institution use an electronic credential service to share official educational documents directly to third parties? For example, Parchment, Digitary, TrueCopy, MyEquals etc.
Yes: Please share your official educational document directly to the University of Turku through the service. University of Turku accepts documents submitted electronically through the international transcript services listed below. The transcript must always be verifiable from the service. Please request your electronic transcript to be submitted to admissions(at)utu.fi or select the University of Turku from the list of receivers. Please refer to the services’ own instructions for more details on how to use each service.

If your institution uses a service not listed here, please contact us at admissions@utu.fi and we will check if it is possible for us to accept your documents through this service. Please note that the University of Turku reserves the right to make the final decision on whether a service is accepted or not.

Does your home institution issue official electronically signed or electronically verified educational documents?
Yes: Please send the electronically verified PDF document to the Admission Services at admissions(a)utu.fi for verification.
The University of Turku accepts electronic educational documents that can be verified using an electronic verification service on the awarding institution’s website.
- The entire document must be verifiable using the service: the service must show the exact same content as the document you submitted.
- If the service verifies only parts of the document, we do not accept the document as officially certified. Instead, submit the original according to country specific instructions.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that we will accept verification services in languages other than English, Finnish or Swedish. If the electronic document verified by the service is not available in English, Finnish or Swedish, you must submit an official translation of the original document as well.
University of Turku reserves the right to evaluate each electronic document and verification service case by case. If we cannot verify the required information, you must submit the document following the general instructions and possible country specific instructions.
The documents must follow the country-specific requirements if applicable.
Until 8 April 2024, we instructed on this page to upload the electronically verified PDF document to the application system after you have submitted your application. This instruction is no longer valid. In case you verified your educational documents as instructed on this page and uploaded them to Studyinfo during application period, those documents will be taken into account after the deadline for submitting documents. To make sure that this applies to your situation, please contact admissions(a)utu.fi and ask for clarification.

Can your home institution send a copy of your official educational document as a PDF-file directly to the Admission Services?
Yes: Please ask that your home institution sends your educational document directly to the Admission Services.
If your institution does not use any electronic credential services to share official educational documents nor awards electronically verifiable documents, you may ask that your institution sends your official electronic educational documents by email directly to the University of Turku to the following email address:
admissions@utu.fi
and use the phrase Utu-docs in the subject of the email.
In order for the document to be accepted, certain requirements must be met:
- The email must be sent from the issuing institution’s official institutional email account
- The sending email must be verifiable on the institution’s public website
- The sending email must belong to a person or office that is responsible for issuing official educational documents, for example: registrar’s office, controller of examinations, awards and graduation department etc.
- The attached document must be in PDF format
Documents sent by email that do not meet the above requirements are not accepted. Please give the above instructions to your institution's representative when requesting that they send your documents.

If none of the electronic options above are available to you, you must send your official educational documents as physical documents to the Admission Services.
- The documents must follow the country-specific requirements if applicable.
- The documents must be originals or certified copies of the originals, given by the awarding institution or Finnish Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
- Postal address: Admission Services is part of the Student Centre Disco - please see the contact details for submitting the documents.
- We recommend using courier services - it is always the applicant's responsibility to make sure that the documents arrive by the deadline.
- You will get the original documents issued to you back after they have been checked.
