Media Studies provides student with tools for understanding and analyzing media culture as historical, technological, social and aesthetic phenomena. Studies within the department help to develop both diverse writing skills and project management skills.
Composer, Professor Emeritus of Musicology Mikko Heiniö has composed the anniversary work entitled Syvyyden yllä tuuli (Wind above the Depths) of the University of Turku’s centenary that will be celebrated next year. The composition will be performed for the first time at the University of Turku’s Anniversary Celebration in February 2020.
The University of Turku organizes an interactive cooperation seminar “How can artists and creatives be more entrepreneurial and innovative in non-urban areas?” for cultural and creative actors at the Rauma Maritime Museum in 31 October – 2 November 2023. The event is designed to assist the capacity-building and foster entrepreneurial social and business models and innovations in non-urban areas.

The Humanities Day is celebrated annually at the end of April right on the cusp of spring. The Humanities Day brings together the entire Faculty: students, doctoral candidates, researchers, teachers and other staff as well as alumni. The Humanities Day highlights the significance of the humanities and helps create a common identity for humanities graduates, researchers and staff.
As previously announced, Turku University Library will close its Quantum Library facilities. Printed materials in Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Engineering will be transferred to Teutori Library.
