Turku Main Library (Linnankatu 2)
Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS) invites you to a special public lecture by Professor Robert Frodeman (https://www.robertfrodeman.com), Fulbright Visiting Specialist in TIAS.
Professor Frodeman's talk is entitled: "A complete mismatch? The production of knowledge in the modern University”.
In this talk Professor Frodeman will question the very role of universities in the modern age. He writes:
"The modern university, born in the 19th century, has become a victim of its own success. Once the center of knowledge culture, today universities are increasingly marginal to both the production and vetting of knowledge. How should universities respond to these changed circumstances? How might the mission of the university change, and what role should it play in the development of new knowledge such as artificial intelligence and gain of function research?"
Admission is free and there is no need to book in advance.
Please see the advertisement of the library.
We look forward to welcoming you to this provocative lecture!
