Biography
As a clinical cardiologist with a specific research interest in atrial fibrillation (AF) and long-term complications after percutaneous and surgical procedures, I have established a research group, which includes 10 PhD students at present. From a clinical point of view, my specific focus is AF patients undergoing cardiac procedures.

Research
PI leads CAREFIB Consortium, which aims to reduce the burden of atrial fibrillation and its adverse outcome stroke in patients undergoing cardiac procedures. This consortium is divided into three major studies: a retrospective epidemiological CAREAVR study; a prospective CAREBANK biobank and a prospective LAA-CLOSURE trial.
