Biography
I hold a doctor’s degree in Entrepreneurship. I have worked over fifteen years as a researcher in the field of entrepreneurship at Turku School of Economics. I have participated in numerous research projects funded, for example, by Finnish Ministries and Associations, Tekes, Sitra and European Commission. In addition to research I have been teaching in several courses at the University of Turku since 2011. In my role as a teacher I have been coaching nearly a hundred student-based startup teams in their business model creation and testing.
Teaching
I teach in several courses at the University of Turku, related to, for example, lean startup method, value creation and business models.
Research
My work centers around entrepreneurial action from different perspectives including individuals, firms and the society. My dissertation is about opportunity search and firm performance. The focus is especially on firm-level attitudes, abilities and actions related to innovativeness, risk-taking and proactiveness that may possibly benefit firms in their effort to improve performance. I am currently working in a project that focuses on examining young people's paths to entrepreneurship in rural areas of Finland.
