Biography
Riikka Harikkala-Laihinen is a Lecturer in International Business. She has graduated from Turku School of Economics in 2019. Her research interests lie in the field of emotion studies, widely adapted to working contexts. In addition to research and teaching, she updates the IB internet and intranet pages, and instructs a weekly TSE faculty exercise class.
Teaching
Riikka has supervised Masters’ Theses in the International Business faculty at TSE since 2015. She has completed 60 ECTS University Pedagogy studies gaining her teaching proficiency, and 32 ECTS Positive Psychology Practitioner studies as continuing education.
Research
The overarching theme of Riikka's research is emotions, which she has explored in multiple ways, for example: emotion elicitation in individuals and groups at work, employees’ emotional bond to organizational identity, embodied emotions during leisure time activity, and work-related emotions in unforeseen circumstances. She is currently collaborating on projects on emotional dynamics in the life course of cosmopolitans, the influence of emotional attachment in family firm internationalization, and EDI in international business. She is an editorial board member for the Journal of Change Management.
