Biography

Panagiotis (Panos) Markopoulos holds a BA in Games Design and an MA in Virtual Reality from the University of Arts London, College of Communication, School of Design. He now pursues his PhD studies at the Doctoral Programme in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Turku (Finland). His research is on the metaverse concept's shortcomings and the necessary advancements to make it a reality.

His areas of interest are game design/development, VR game design/development, environment/world design, storytelling, narrative structure, character design, 3D modelling, UI/UX design, Photoshop art, and project management. He has professional experience in the game design industry as a member of a game design team at the Game Lab of the Turku University of Applied Sciences in Finland, as a VR engineer at the Humanitarian Operations Ltd, Hope Games Division (UK), as a game designer at the European Award Winner games company (Rebel Crew Games), and as UIUX designer at Sparthink Technologies (iOS/Android and Game Apps), and EMPROSS Software Quality Engineering.
His interests and areas of expertise are Creative Design, World/Level Design, Storytelling, UI Design, Logo Design, 3D Modeling, Games Design, Gamification, and Character Design.

He has academic 18 publications in blind peer review international journals and conferences, in the areas of gaming, games design, virtual reality and the metaverse concept.
He speaks fluent English and Greek and is an EU (Greece) and USA citizen.
