Biography

Prof. Mirjamaija  Mikkilä-Erdmann is professor of teacher education and head of the Centre for Research on Learning and Instruction (CERLI) at the University of Turku. She is an internationally experienced scholar in the field of educational sciences, and an experienced teacher educator and supervisor who also investigates research-based teacher training. She is especially interested in science literacy, text comprehension and online methodologies for investigating comprehension processes while learning complex, counterintuitive scientific phenomena. She is an experienced leader of multidisciplinary, international research projects (Academy of Finland). Currently she is deputy leader and wp-leader in Finsci (Fostering Science Capital) 2021- financed by Strategic Council by Academy of Finland and site leader in the Academy of Finland project 2021- (“Student selection and competence development in the continuum of preservice and in-service teacher education” (SITE). Mirjamaija has R & D projects with Municipal Salo targetting at developing students' future skills suchs as Internet literacy and supporting teachers and principles through in-service training.
