Biography
I have been appointed as a university lecturer in the Department of Classics in the University of Turku from 2014, i. e. the year I finished my doctoral thesis, which was mainly funded by Langnet (network for doctoral programmes in language studies). In my spare time I enjoy singing and reading, as well as the company of my family and friends.
Teaching
My regular teaching programme includes courses in ancient history, literature and philosophy, as well as in various individual authors, both Greek and Latin. Over the years these have included e.g. Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Demosthenes, Cicero, Caesar, Sallust, Horace, Vergil, Tacitus, Lucian, and Plutarch.
Research
My research interests are varied, stretching from Antiquity to 19th century Finland. In particular, I have been interested in the study of language and literature, i.e. the history of classical scholarship: the fields, the practitioners and their professional identities.
