Biography
I am a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Geography and Geology at the University of Turku, with a focus on Geoinformatics. My research involves the use of cutting-edge IT, GeoAI, and a diverse range of Earth observation data. I have actively participated in key initiatives such as the Tanzania Resilience Academy and the GeoICT4e projects, and I am currently involved in the Geoportti Research Infrastructure (Geoportti RI) project. My expertise spans Remote Sensing, Earth Observation, Geospatial Technology and Machine Learning and Landscape Dynamics.
Teaching
I have been teaching since 2013, beginning with computer science courses. From 2019, my focus has been on teaching geospatial courses to undergraduate students, including Spatial Databases, Remote Sensing, and System Analysis. In recent years, I have also assisted to teaching Master's-level courses at The State University of Zanzibar in Tanzania, focusing on advanced geospatial topics and mentoring students in their projects and fields.
Research
My doctoral research integrate the GeoAI and citizen science methods to model landscape dynamics in Eastern Africa. By leveraging advanced geospatial algorithms and community driven data collecton approaches, my work aims to uncover patterns of landscape change and their socio-ecological drivers. This research contributes to landscape sustainability strategies by providing actionable insights into how human and natural systems interact over time.
