Professor, Operations & Supply Chain Management
Biography
Person profile
My research within operations and supply chain management is focused on firm and supply chain performance (financial, logistics cost and operations performance) and how these are related to various issues like strategy choices, outsourcing, low-cost sourcing, geographic dispersion and sustainability of supply chain.
One of my research streams is within network economics and includes, on one hand, policy issues and, on the other hand, the diffusion of mobile technologies and their effects.
The third stream is around learning including, on one hand, business game development and learning related issues and, on the other hand, on skill requirement in firms.
Background
Besides being tenured Professor at Turku School of Economics and the head of the department of marketing and international business, I am part time Adjunct Professor of network economics at Aalto University. I have developed the SIMBU business game and contributed to the development of MOB (Mobile Operator Business Game). I have almost two decades long experience as strategy and operations management instructor as well as facilitator of business simulation games both in academia and industry.
Earlier I have served as Professor at Helsinki School of Economics and as post-doctoral researcher at Turku School of Economics as well as senior researcher and researcher at Helsinki University of Technology.
