Research
I am a comparatist who is currently occupied with post-apocalyptic literature, ecocriticism and human-animal studies. I am finalising my doctoral dissertation on issues related to time and temporality in mainly anglophone post-apocalyptic literature after WW2. The dissertation places particular emphasis on the ways in which the narrative and existential perspective of the future anterior (“what will have been”) is inflected by the themes of nostalgia, trauma and melancholia in how we relate to fictions of destroyed futures. My other research interests include the works of Emerson and Whitman, as well as North American romanticism in general.
