Hanna Mäkinen is Senior Researcher at the Pan-European Institute (PEI). She holds Master of Arts in General History, Political Science and Contemporary History from the University of Turku. She has been working in various research and administrative positions at PEI since 2008. Hanna's research interests include Russia's societal and economic development and the interplay of security and economic and societal issues. In her previous research projects she has studied, for instance, the role of foreign companies in Russian energy and maritime industries and the security development of former USSR countries. She has published articles on her research topics and has several years of experience in research projects related to, for instance, energy and maritime sectors.
