Biography
Dr. Ethiopia Nigussie is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Computing, Faculty of Technology, University of Turku, Finland. Dr. Nigussie got her Dr.Sc. (Tech.) degree from University of Turku (Finland) in 2010, M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) in 2004 and B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia) in 2000. She has more than 19 years of experience in research, teaching, student supervision, project management, and voluntary professional services in the area of embedded systems, system-on-chip, internet-of-things, cybersecurity, wireless communication systems and autonomous systems. She has published a book in Springer and about 80 publications in reputable international journals and conferences. She has supervised 7 PhD students and 29 M.Sc. theses. She has secured in and collaborated on 8 national and international projects. She has an active collaboration network with international research groups at universities in US, Europe and Africa. She was a Visting Researcher at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), US; University of Notre Dame, US; and Technical University of Dresden, Germany. She has been awarded four research excellence awards from different foundations including two times from Nokia Foundation. She has taught 4 and 8 undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Turku. She has been active in the scientific community by serving in different roles. Dr. Nigussie served as a doctoral thesis committee member for seven PhD dissertations in different countries. She has She served as General Chair for IEEE International Conference on ICT for Development Africa, TPC Chair, and TPC member for a number of reputable international conferences. She also organized several special sessions and workshops in international conferences. She served as Editor-in-Chief for International Journal of Embedded and Real-Time and Communication Systems and currently serving as a Guest Editor in MDPI Sensors and MDPI Applied Sciences. She is a Senior IEEE member.
