Professor Jason Xiao visits the Department of Accounting and Finance on 1 December 2017.

Dr. Jason Xiao is a Professor of Accounting at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University, UK. His research has focused on (1) Accounting regulation in China, (2) Impact of information technology (e.g., Internet and ERP) on accounting, (3) Management accounting practice in China, and (4) Corporate governance in China. Currently he is undertaking a project for ICAEW on use and usefulness of fair value accounting in China.

He has published numerous papers on accounting and corporate governance in leading academic journals, such as Abacus; Accounting, Auditing, and Accountability Journal; Accounting, Organizations and Society; British Accounting Review; European Accounting Review; European Journal of Information Systems; International Journal of Accounting; Management Accounting Research; Journal of Banking and Finance; Journal of Corporate Finance; and Journal of Management Accounting Research.

Additionally, Prof. Xiao was the founding editor-in-chief of China Journal of Accounting Studies (an international research journal of the Accounting Society of China) and has been an associate editor or an editorial board member for several other international journals. He is also the founding director of Centre for China Business Research at Cardiff University and has maintained close ties with accounting professional bodies, too.

During Xiao’s visit, he will present his research paper titled “The Effect of Budget Information Systems on Budget Procedural Justice and Firm Performance” at Department of Accounting and Finance’s research seminar on Fri 1 Dec at 14–16 as well as collaborate with faculty members. Prof. Xiao will use the room 358 in the hallway of Department of Accounting and Finance.
