Open Access publishing when negotiations with publishers on new agreements are under way
The FinELib Consortium for acquisition of e-resources is still in the middle of negotiations with several publishers of scientific journals. Apart from the journals of the ACS, users can so far read the newest journals of these publishers although the new agreements are not finished yet. During the negotiations, open access publishing varies by publisher.
Please, find below instructions on how to presently act with each publisher if you wish to publish your article open access in a journal of the publisher in question:
- American Chemical Society: It is still uncertain how the negotiations will continue. Articles accepted to be published in ACS journals Dec 31, 2023 at the latest will be published open access as part of the present agreement. Starting Jan 1, 2024 ACS journals can be read from the first publishing year until the end of 2023.
- Elsevier, Emerald, Royal Society of Chemistry: Articles accepted for publication on or after Jan 1, 2024 can be published open access retroactively for free, when a new agreement is reached.
- IEEE: Articles accepted for publication on or after Jan 1, 2024 can be published open access retroactively for free, when a new agreement is reached. Regarding articles in full oa journals, you are advised not to pay the APC in order to have them covered by our agreement.
- Oxford University Press, Springer Compact collection: Articles accepted for publication on or after Jan 1, 2024 can be published open access immediately without extra charge.
News on the ongoing negotiations can be read on FinELib's web pages. If new agreements are not reached with some of the publishers, the authors must cover the costs of open publishing in journals of those publishers using other funds or publish their articles behind a paywall.
