This panel discussion launches a workshop series geared towards early career scholars researching and teaching historical subjects. It pays special attention to the importance of historical knowledge, the ways in which we teach and research history, and the politics of history vis-à-vis today’s world affairs, including but not limited to such issues as the politicization and polarization of historical narratives, the abuse of history, decolonization, silenced histories, symbolic violence around historical knowledge(s) and similar sensitive and important questions, not to mention on-going wars and weaponization of historical knowledge around them.
